Xanodyne Launches Better Tasting Amicar Syrup

Florence, KY – September 9, 2003 – Xanodyne Pharmacal™, Inc announced today the launch of better tasting Amicar® (aminocaproic acid) Syrup. Amicar Syrup now has a unique, proprietary formulation that significantly improves the taste of the product. It has a great raspberry flavor that will be well accepted by patients. It is now also available in a plastic bottle for greater convenience.

An independent taste test was conducted to evaluate the improved formulation, and it confirmed that 4 out of 5 participants prefer Amicar Syrup over aminocaproic acid oral solution. Test results demonstrated that there was a significantly greater preference for Amicar Syrup. Further analysis of the taste test results concluded that participants preferred the overall taste, as well as the aftertaste of Amicar Syrup. Amicar Syrup was also judged to be sweeter and less bitter, and to have a stronger raspberry flavor. Only Amicar Syrup from Xanodyne provides patients with the better tasting, raspberry flavored product.
In addition to Amicar Syrup, Xanodyne markets Amicar in tablet and injectable dosage forms. The products are available in retail pharmacies as well as in hospitals. Shipment of the better tasting Amicar Syrup to drug wholesalers is in process and it should be available at retail within the next few weeks.
